AI candidates triaged on specific signals: stated production AI experience (not just tutorial completions), public AI work (GitHub, blog posts, library contributions), exposure to specific frameworks matching your stack, and time-zone fit.
2) Recruiter screening: communication and remote readiness
A recruiter assesses spoken and written English, async communication discipline, motivation, and stability. AI engineering specifically requires strong written communication because so much of the work happens in design docs and architectural reviews.
3) Technical depth interview
A senior engineer (not a recruiter) runs a 60-minute technical interview matched to the candidate’s claimed specialization.
