DistantJob is GDPR compliant. This means nothing to regular humans. So here’s what that means in plain English:
We collect data while you browse our website. We use it for nothing that’s evil or nefarious. We don’t sell your data to partners. We don’t give it away. We don’t use it to send you spam. We don’t print it out to cuddle with late at night, while watching Frasier reruns and eating spoonfuls of mayonnaise. Huuuum, mayo…
We use it just to make sure stuff works on the website, and that you get the best experience possible. Stuff like… Letting those cute chat pop-ups know what region you are browsing from, so we can set you up with the person that’s most likely to understand you and your needs. Or the ability to get back in touch with you if you fill out a form but accidentally close the page before it sends.
These are those “cookies” your browser is always telling you about. You can get internet diabetes if you get too many cookies, so it’s a good thing to be aware of them! Please note that we collect no personal data in this way. Merely info about your browser, your location, and the actions you take on our website.
And, well, if you fill in a form on the website, we get the data you insert. That would fall into the realm of personal data. To us, that kinda means that you’re interested in getting info about our products. So we’ll use that data to gauge your needs and get in touch with you about that. Nothing else.
Please keep in mind that by agreeing to these terms, you also agree that your data is being stored outside of EU territory. This is simply because we are a fully remote company, and our employees are constantly moving around the world. Not because we have a secret underground base in Antarctica. Though that would be rad.
Of course, if you object to us having that info, poke us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll provide you with a comprehensive review of all the data we collected from your browsing, as well as delete it all, if that’s what you want.
When you apply to a job on our site, or through contact with one of our recruiters, the personal data contained in your application is collected by Empire Host Inc (“Controller”), which is located at 1790 Rue Beaulac, St-Laurent, CA and can be contacted by emailing email@example.com . Controller’s data protection officer can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Your personal data is processed for the purposes of managing our recruitment related activities, which include setting up and conducting interviews and tests for applicants, evaluating and assessing the results thereto, and as is otherwise needed in the recruitment and hiring processes. Such processing is legally permissible under Art. 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation) as necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller, which are the solicitation, evaluation, and selection of applicants for employment.
Your personal data is shared with Greenhouse Software, Inc., a cloud services provider located in the United States of America and engaged by Controller to help manage its recruitment and hiring process on Controller’s behalf. Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, your personal data is transferred to the United States once you submit it through this site.
We will keep your data for 10 years, and then delete it is there is not an active effort to refresh it on your end.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to request access to your personal data, to request that your personal data be rectified or erased, and to request that processing of your personal data be restricted. You also have to right to data portability. In addition, you may lodge a complaint with an EU supervisory authority.
When you send us your info and CV, we store it in our system, which helps us match you up with job requests that we get from employers.
If, at any time, you want us to delete your data from our system, or to see a copy of it, just send an email to email@example.com , stating what you need from us.
